You may be asking yourself, "What is Block 31?"
Block 31 is a square block of property in the small, rural, Kansas town of Dwight. Dwight was established in 1887 along the Chicago, Kansas & Nebraska Railway. In 1891, Chicago, Rock Island 7 Pacific Railway took it over.
Block 31 can be found north of the railroad tracks, one road west of Hwy 57 via either Oak Street or Osage Street. Block 31 was the location of the Dwight Elementary School in the late 1880s - 1960s. The block is now home to Pink Gravel's - The Event Center and Campsites. |
The name "Block 31" refers to its legal description:
DWIGHT ORIGINAL, S12, T14, R07E, BLOCK 31, Lots 1 - 12. |
